Training Update - Season 15/16

August 16, 2015

More Space, More Time and More Coaches

First congratulations to Martin Hicks for passing his level one coaching award. Martin did some excellent work coaching the goal keepers and the fifth team last season. This season Martin will still be working  with the Goalkeepers but will also be taking a much more active role in the coaching of the outfield players so the club now has three fully qualified coaches :o)

The club has continued to grow in numbers and quality in the last few seasons. Last season was no exception with the first team moving into Premier 1 and the fifths and fourths getting promotions.

The club coaches and captains have now laid out an improved training structure for this season that provides teams with more training time, more space to train in and more coaches to coach the session.

The coaches are particularly excited about the new format as it will allow them to coach as a team rather than in isolation. This will provide a much more effective and higher standard of coaching for the entire club.

The New Format

  • Training will still be on Wednesday nights at Coombe Dingle but will now run from 6.30pm until 9.30pm which is an extra half an hour on last year.

  • 3s, 4s and 5s train from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.

  • 1s and 2s train from 7.40pm until 9.30pm.

  • Each session gets all three coaches

  • Both sessions get the majority of their session on a full pitch

  • Huddle is at 8pm for 10mins max
